Lindsay & John : Engaged | Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow

Lindsay and John had their first date at a restaurant called Air Organic near Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow. And that is how their story began, over 9 years ago.
It was great to meet them at this very place to start off their engagement shoot (though the restaurant has now changed names) – they even remembered which table they had sat at!
We then went for a walk in Kelvingrove Park in bright sunshine. I have to say, I adored Lindsay’s outfit! The flowery dress, the little crochet flower, her shoes! So cute!

Lyndsay & Roland : Engaged | Bridge of Allan, University of Stirling Campus

Time and again, I’m amazed with the locations that my couples pick for their engagement shoot – and Lyndsay and Roland’s choice was no exception!! Lyndsay went to the University of Stirling and they now live locally, so they know the area very well – including where the nicest bluebells are to be found. And in addition, we had one of the nicest evenings in May, with light so pretty that I had to pinch myself

I’m so looking forward to photographing their wedding on Thursday next week at Monachyle Mhor Hotel in spectacular Highland scenery. Lyndsay and Roland – see you on Thursday and I hope you enjoy this preview of your engagement session photos!

Lisa & Adrian : Married | Ss. Fillans and Alphonsos, Doune and Forest Hills Hotel, Aberfoyle

Two weeks ago I photographed the wedding of Lisa and Adrian, in the beautiful Trossachs. The sun came out, and the day was not short of tears and emotion (all good, of course!). The scenery on the hotel terrace, where we took some of the couple portraits, reminded me a tiny bit of Tuscany. I visited there almost 20 years ago (just dated myself) and wanted to go back ever since. The light… the colours. Oh and Lisa’s shoes!!! Way to go!

A sincere love to detail was evident in all aspects of the day. From the birdcage decorations, to the handmade ribbon table plan. So much care had been taken to make their guests feel comfortable, especially the kids. This may sound silly but it was heartwarming to notice and photograph everything.

Lisa and Adrian… let me just say, wow. Hope you enjoy this selection of photos.

Lisa & Adrian : Engaged | Bothwell Castle

Time certainly flies by! Lisa and Adrian are getting married this Friday, and we just managed to squeeze in their engagement session last weekend!

It was great to meet up at Bothwell Castle and hear about their wedding plans. I’m very excited about this wedding as Lisa is the sister of my husband Gary’s good friend – who was Best Man at our wedding. It will be lovely to see everyone again! And with the reception being held in the Forest Hills Hotel in Aberfoyle, we are going to have some stunning Highland scenery for the photos. Can’t wait

Jennifer & Kevin : Married | Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens, Glasgow

My 2012 wedding season was kicked off two weeks ago with Jennifer and Kevin’s beautiful wedding in Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens. I knew it would be a fantastic day, because Jennifer and Kevin are simply one of the sweetest couples I’ve photographed so far. I remember that last October, when I broke the news of my pregnancy, I received an email from Jennifer. She opened with lots of congratulations and kind words about how happy she was for me. Then, almost as an afterthought, she added if I was still ok to shoot her wedding. Needless to say, of course I was – but I was also really touched by her reaction to my news!!

I was so pleased that the day went off without a hitch for them, including the weather (with just a couple of April showers). Their humanist ceremony was very touching; their venue oozed class and comfort. The speeches were brilliant and I loved how Kevin thanked his mum in his speech. I think all the ladies in the room swooned a bit.

Jennifer & Kevin – what a perfect day you had! I wish you all the very best for your married life, and hope you have a fantastic honeymoon in Barbados. Looking forward to catching up with you when you’re back.

Gail & Mike : Engaged | Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Park, Glasgow University

When Gail contacted me last October about her wedding, I found out that within a week of getting engaged, she was already pretty much sorted with her wedding planning. But then she is clearly a pro at being organised! You have to be with two little people in your life – I can attest to that!

We met at Kelvingrove Art Gallery last weekend, and the weather didn’t look very promising – dark clouds! We started off with a few family portraits in the park, and then it started to rain… however, this didn’t put us off one bit as Gail had the fab idea of dashing over to Glasgow University for the rest of the shoot!

Kate & Alan : Engaged | Lennoxtown

I drove up to Lennoxtown for Kate & Alan’s e-shoot with the sun blasting down on me. Last week the temperatures were almost tropical here in Scotland! And then I passed a sign saying – “Snow Warning For Monday” – back to Earth with a crash!!

We had arranged to have Kate & Alan’s shoot in the very place they got engaged – behind their house. Oh how I wish I had a “back garden” like theirs!! I actually think, one of my first questions to Kate was, how much are the starting prices to buy property here Ha ha!

Kate & Alan met 10 years ago in Newcastle but moved up to Scotland for Alan’s work. Alan proposed earlier this year, and Kate chose a beautiful aquamarine engagement ring – her wedding colour scheme is turquoise! Kate shared a few of her plans with me, and I’m very excited to see how everything will come together for their September wedding at the Lodge on Loch Lomond! One thing is for sure, the Loch will fit right into the colour scheme!

Introducing…Jamie!

Things have been a bit quiet on my blog recently, I know! I do have a good excuse however. It’s currently fast asleep in a moses basket on the coach next to me. It’s baby Jamie!!

Jamie was born on 22 February, and life has been pretty busy ever since! He has been a pretty well behaved wee boy so far, though. Obviously I’ve only got Louisa to compare with, and my memory of what she was like at the tender age of 1 month is letting me down. Possibly I was so sleep deprived that I lost the memory of those early days I do remember, however, that she always wanted to be held and didn’t want to sleep during the day. Whereas Jamie does sleep during the day – though mostly in my arms!

I think I may be more chilled this time round. Maybe that’s the advantage of being a second time mum. The only thing that really, really gets me is putting them both to bed at night. They do an excellent job in keeping each other awake.

So, with a little drumroll… a few of my first photos of Jamie. Hope you enjoy

Yay!! It’s all change!

I’m doing a happy dance round the living room as I write this!! Regular visitors of this blog / website will notice that there are some BIG changes. I’ve got a new logo, and a new website! I’ve been looking forward to this day since contacting designer Jen back in October with a rambling enquiry… which she managed to translate into what you can see in front of you now. I couldn’t be happier with the end result. And, the site is a lot more user friendly (not to mention visually attractive!!) for all my prospective brides & grooms!

I really need to thank both Jen (of Jen Harvey Design - who worked on my logo design and front end web design) and Chris (of Devonto – who worked on the back end web development) for their frankly amazing work, dedication and endless patience. Thanks again guys!

2012 is going to be a fabulous wedding season for MM Photography, and I am really looking forward to photographing all the brides and grooms that have already booked me for this year – and beyond!

After Rachel and Danny’s engagement shoot in Glasgow’s West End, Rachel contacted me to ask if I would mind if the photos were featured on Whimsical Wonderland Weddings blog. Are you kidding!!! Of course I didn’t mind!

Whimsical Wonderland Weddings is a fabulous UK wedding blog written by the lovely Lou… it’s an absolute honour to be featured. I visit the blog regularly for inspiration and to see what’s new… and it’s always touching to read couples’ love stories. Yes, I’m sentimental like that.
