- she has now entered the phase where you have to watch what you say, as she will repeat most of the things you say…

- she is now able to understand and act on more complex demands like “go to the fridge and get a yoghurt” – while mummy stays put on the couch

- vice versa, if you ask her something too easy, like “where is the rabbit” when it’s right in front of her, she sometimes just gives you the look as if to say “Come on, you are not seriously expecting me to answer this?!”

- when she wakes up from her lunchtime nap or in the morning, she is usually full of stories and eager to share them. She willcome right up to your face, make sure that you are focusing all your attention on her, and then speak!

- When she drops something, she says “Oops-a-daisy”. Now, neither me nor Gary ever say this, so it’s a mystery where she got that from!

Rachel & Danny chose the Botanic Gardens for their shoot as it’s a place they enjoy going for walks together. I loved the contrast of the wintery but sunny Botanics with its trees, grass, nature etc., and then the bustling streets of the West End, where we finished up with a few shots at Ashton Lane. They are such a sweet couple, and I loved how Danny was a real gentleman and put down his own scarf whenever I asked them to sit down – so Rachel wouldn’t feel the cold.

Rachel & Danny, thanks again for a fab shoot!! I’m more excited than ever about covering your wedding in July next year in House for an Art Lover. Hope you enjoy the sneak preview of photos!

So, before the next wave of photo shoots hits me, I thought I post a few photos from our recent holiday / short break in Glenfinnan, in the Scottish Highlands. Glenfinnan has a special place in Gary’s and my heart as we got married there in 2008, and return every so often to re-charge our batteries and wallow in wedding memories. Louisa comes with us these days, and she has already been four times since she was born – and we also had her christened in the little church where we got married, by the same Father. The place is ideal for relaxation and for kids – I know, this seems a contradiction but it truly isn’t – I love the wildness of the nature, the loch, the serene atmosphere around there. And Louisa loves throwing stones into the water, picking up leaves and sticks and jumping into puddles

I put her on our bed, as she loves playing on it and I always get big smiles…

This month’s update…
- she’s increasing her vocabulary, which now contains words such as “Bu” (for Blume / flower), “Bye” (which is used for “bye” as well as “banana”), “Milch” (for Milch / milk) and “car keys” (for “car keys”). And a few other random ones. She will also make words up, rather convincingly, when she cannot remember / say / be bothered to say (who knows) the real word.
- she still wakes up for a bottle of milk every night.
- Louisa and I went to Germany for a long weekend, and she got pretty obsessed with the safety on board instructions on the plane. She studied them for at least 30 minutes and then went back to peruse them from time to time during the flight, perhaps to refresh her memory. I would have relied on her in case of an emergency.
- while she is not throwing real tantrums, she definitely lets you know when she doesn’t want to do something. Last month, she would just lie herself slowly and carefully on the floor. Now, she just does a wee noise which sounds a bit like “eh”.
- she is generally always in a good mood (occasionally bordering on the silly). Whenever she’s in a huff, it’s for a good reason…usually tiredness or hunger. Yes, she really is a good baby!

As the morning of Christine and David’s wedding came, the skies were grey. It was sprinkling down with rain as Christine was getting ready. No one cared. In any case, Christine was prepared for any weather.

It turned out that she didn’t need her special umbrella, that she had bought only a week before the wedding just in case. The sun shone brightly when Christine and David appeared from the church to an impromptu confetti shower.

The day continued in Christine and David’s relaxed style. After a very enjoyable portrait session, we had some hilarious speeches before dinner, then we were treated to a delicious meal served by the very attentive Glasgow University catering staff and finally, the evening was kicked off by Christine and David performing a Gay Gordon first dance. I enjoyed the atmosphere so much, I was reluctant to leave the party at the end of the night
